Dixie State University/CEBA Business of Art Program Seeks Grant Applicants

The Dixie State University/CEBA Business of Art program is seeking applicants for six artist grants, which will be awarded at the 2013 Business of Art seminar held this November 8-9, at Kanab Middle School in Kanab, Utah.

The funding for the annual grant program is made possible by a generous donation from Zions Bank and its president and CEO A. Scott Anderson. The annual grant program was created to support homegrown artists, small business and gallery owners, and art educators in Utah, northern Arizona and southern Nevada who attend the annual Business of Art Seminar.

"The arts are not only to entertain and business is not only to make a profit," Anderson said. "The arts incarnate the creativity of a free people, and creativity is the juice that drives business differentiation and success. This, in turn, enriches our community, bolsters our economy, creates new jobs, and makes our lives richer and better."

Grant monies will be awarded in six different categories, including gallery business; art educational content; art education workshop; artist business; artist purchase prize; and artist student award. Eligible applicants and recipients must have attended a previous Business of Arts conference (2009-12). The deadline to submit grant applications is August 30, 2013. For seminar information and registration, complete grant guidelines and application form, please visit www.dixieculturalarts.com/business-of-art, or Facebook at www.facebook.com/biz.of.art. The cost of this year’s seminar is $15, and can be paid online.

The annual Business of Art Seminar is presented by Dixie State University and CEBA in an effort to not only educate artists and enhance their business skills, but to improve the economic development of Utah and the region. This year’s Business of Art Seminar will feature an exciting schedule of classes and workshops, presented by knowledgeable professionals from throughout Utah.
