"Raising Kane" Business Summit Taking Place at Stampin' Up! on Thursday, January 16, starting at 5:30 pm  

The 7th annual Kane County Business Summit will take place Thursday, January 16, 2014 at the Stampin' Up! manufacturing facility located at 1400 S Highway 89A Kanab, UT 84741. The one day event dubbed "Raising Kane," starts at 5:30 p.m. and will be covering topics related to the economy and business trends with speakers from the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, the Utah Buy Local First program, and a keynote address by Dan Shilling, about the importance and role of Civic Tourism.

Dr. Dan Shilling has researched, written about, and practiced alternative forms of tourism since the early 1990s. In 2001, he received the Arizona Office of Tourism "Person of the Year" award. Dan regularly makes presentations to tourism programs, economic development groups, and cultural agencies. Dan is the former director of the Arizona Humanities Council, and has received numerous awards for his work in community development. Food will be provided and the conference is free for all to attend. 

The 2014, Kane County Business Summit is offered at no charge thanks to generous donations from partners including the Economic Development Corporation of Utah, State of Utah Governors Office of Economic Development, Kanab Area Chamber of Commerce, Zions Bank, State Bank of Southern Utah, Mountain America Credit Union, Kanab City, Kane County Economic Development and Office of Tourism, Wells Fargo Bank, Small Business Development Center, Southwest Applied Technology College, Dixie State University, Southern Utah University, CEBA, and Stampin' Up!.
